Pre-TAC

Arrive Like a Local, Thinking like a Scientist.

Before the boots hit the ground, before the passports are stamped, before the curious questions are scribbled in travel journals; there’s Pre-TAC.

Short for Pre-Trip Academic Calibration, Pre-TAC is one of the most powerful gears in the CheckWorld expedition engine. They allow us to arrive at the heart of the expedition intellectually alert. It’s not just a briefing. It’s not just prep. It’s how we make sure every participant arrives at the destination, not as a tourist, but as a thinker: aware and tuned in. Whether we’re heading to Zanzibar for marine science, to Kaduna for archaeological digs, or to the Simien Mountains for geology, each expedition begins with a deep dive into context.

In Pre-TAC, we unpack the theme of the expedition:

- What are we exploring?

- Who are the communities, ecosystems, or histories we’re about to encounter?

We explore the geography, the culture, the science, and the questions behind the questions. We build working knowledge of the site; its stories, systems, challenges, and wonders, just so when we go somewhere new, we arrive ready to belong.

Then comes the fun part of Pre-TAC, the TAC Quiz. It’s our playful but purposeful way of testing just how expedition-ready we really are. So yes, Pre-TAC is a big part of our expeditions, because they set the stage, Pre-TAC turns curiosity into capability. It’s our promise that when we journey into the world, we do so not just with excitement, but with insight.

Because at CheckWorld, arrival isn’t the beginning of learning; it’s the result of it.
