Most young people have a limited worldview.

Most understand the world as the plastic globe on their school desk, maps as decorations for classroom walls, and geography as an exercise designed for memorizing a seemingly endless list of places they’ll never see. They cannot fathom how history means archeology, ancient sites of majestic ruins, or crumbling artifacts that speak of the secrets of a past long, long ago. For them, the universe and its exotic wonders are a bedtime fable.

Someone had to help them see the world through a different lens, to broaden their horizons, to expand their perspective, but above all, to inspire a generation of globally aware thinkers. So we did. Thus, CheckWorld was founded in January 2008 by Artina Yaro West with the mandate 'Educational Tourism for Youth Empowerment.' And by September 2009, we had launched five departments: Check Magazine. SmartKid. Camp Check. FunBee. SunnyOut. All tailored to educate young minds about the world. By the third quarter of 2014, we had provided a total of 8,985 young people with the opportunity to become encyclopedically versed individuals, and our impact continues to grow. Today, with the help of partnerships, we are inspiring even more young minds and shaping the next generation of global citizens. More on OUR STORY

The Science Of Us

CheckWorld is a revolutionary force, not just a Not-for-Profit Educational Tourism Organization. We go beyond educating young minds about the world to broadening their worldviews, to fueling a transformation that brings about boundless knowledge and a global perspective. Through our domestic and international expeditions, which span archaeology to zoology, we inspire young minds.

Our Mission

Our mission isn’t just to broaden the perspectives of young people worldwide or to deepen their understanding of the multifaceted world we live in. We are dedicated to fostering a new generation of socially responsible, encyclopedically versed young people who will tackle global challenges and cultivate a brighter future through a culture of peace, equality, and human dignity worldwide. Our mission is to equip future pioneers, innovators, visionary leaders, and changemakers to become global citizens.

Our Vission

A world where young people grow up with a deep understanding and appreciation of global diversity— where they not only embrace the differences that shape our planet but also recognize the connections that bind us together. We envision a generation of youth empowered with not just global awareness, but with empathy and cultural consciousness, ready to engage with the world not as strangers but as global citizens who are equipped to lead, collaborate, and create meaningful change.

Why do We Care?

At CheckWorld, we care because when young people engage with other cultures and other environments, their understanding deepens, and their empathy grows. When that happens, they begin to acknowledge and appreciate global diversity, and a world like that has less conflict, less judgment, and more connections. That’s why we care, because global understanding isn't just a nice idea; it's the foundation for a greater future.

Our Core Values

We value courage that propels growth. So we champion young people to boldly push beyond boundaries, challenge their perspectives, ask tough questions, discover the world, and grow through expeditionary learning.

Our Guiding Principle

Inspire through exploration. Empower through experience.

Our Team

CheckWorld is a diverse group of educators, explorers, youth advocates, and cultural connectors united by a shared belief: that exposure is empowerment. Our team brings together backgrounds in teaching, child development, travel logistics, heritage conservation, global studies, and community organizing. We are driven by the conviction that every young mind deserves answers to their questions about the world, from why bugs evolve to how mountains become!

Our Goal

Fostering global awareness and respect for diversity through educational tourism.
